DayZ Vehicles Guide – Vehicles are essential for transportation across the Chernarussian landscape and for storing extra loot and supplies. They can be found in many different locations all over the map, typically near buildings or garages. Vehicles spawn in various states of damage – some with key parts attached, others missing or broken. Fuel is usually absent, and parts must be repaired or replaced before a survivor can make proper use of the vehicle. Each vehicle also has an internal health value: if you crash too hard, the engine may become irreparable and the car will no longer start.
Proper tools are often required to install or remove certain parts, such as wheels or doors. Managing fluids is crucial: you’ll need water for the radiator and gasoline for the tank. Survivors must also lock parts in place to prevent theft or tampering.
Vehicles are one of the few persistent elements in DayZ. They remain on the server until they’re completely destroyed, left unused for long periods, or pushed outside the playable area-at which point they’ll usually respawn at a new random location. As with most items in DayZ, vehicles are non-transferable between servers. All land vehicles in DayZ use manual transmission and require gear shifting to operate (default: Q and E for down and up shifting respectively).
